Dagmar Petersen's work explores our collective sensory and emotional encounters with the world, emphasizing universal themes that connect us.

By painting directly on the screen, she creates work that plays with the boundaries of painting within print. Through a language of intuitive brushstrokes, Dagmar depicts collective figurative yet abstract motifs focusing on painting the feeling of them to speak to your senses and emotions.

In her recent series, “Refraction of Metamorphosis”, Dagmar underscores social shifts through mystical frog figures in an unnatural dreamy, pink universe. Frogs as a symbol are historically connected to different omen meanings, inviting the viewer to reflect on themes such as decay and environmental changes, encouraging the viewers to consider our mythical relationship with nature.

Dagmar holds a BA in the Study of Religion from Aarhus University (2015) and a BA in Textile Design from VIA University (2018). Her diverse educational background informs her work, enriching it with collective cultural and spiritual questions.
